Pennsylvania Creating Searchable Life Insurance Database

PA HB 152
This bill would allow any family member of a decedent, or personal representative to request a search of the life insurance database for beneficiaries as long as both of the following terms are met:
1. The request is accompanied by a copy of the decedent’s death certificate.
2. The decedent was a resident or former resident of Pennsylvania.
Once a valid search request has been received the new law would require that if all beneficiaries who are due benefits have not been located within 120 days, the insurer must notify the requesting representative and provide the name for each.
